Executive Director & Director of ESL Instruction
I began my work as an ESL teacher in 2006. Helping students make sense of the English language and American culture is a rewarding journey of trust, affection, and heartfelt satisfaction. My course work taught me best practices and teaching strategies. My students teach me unparalleled joy of emerging and expanding communication!
I earned an Associate of Science degree in Human Services and a Bachelor of Science degree in Teaching and Learning. I have an English Second Language endorsement. My real-life education comes from over 30 years of community service.
By speaking and writing students demonstrate their ability to communicate opinions and knowledge. Good communication skills are essential in academia and life. I provide a channel for students to use their voice and know they are heard.
Hi! I’m Jessie Gladden, a Clarksville, Tennessee native. I have worked in TN as an elementary School Counselor in elementary schools in Robertson and Davidson counties. I received a Master’s degree in School Counseling in 2015 from Austin Peay State University. I received a second Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health at APSU in 2021. Currently, I use my clinical training to help clients heal maladaptive patterns stemming from trauma and interpersonal relationships.
In my free time, I enjoy cooking, traveling, yoga and spending time with my loved ones- my husband, Matt, friends, family and the love of my life, my Dalmatian, Stanley. I am passionate about serving others, fostering deep relationships, and educating others on the importance of whole-body wellness through the mind, body, and Spirit.
My name is Julia Campos, and I have dedicated the past decade to serving as a cultural and educational interpreter in Davidson County. With a background in Cultural Heritage Conservation, I chose to advance my career by earning a BA in art history from Arizona State University and pursuing a Master’s degree in Cultural Heritage Management/Leadership at Johns Hopkins University. Among my goals is facilitating an environment that values cultural heritage and education. This will foster learners’ understanding of the significance of their identity and belonging to a community. I take pride in my job responsibilities and strive to enhance communication among multilingual students, educators, and institutions by leveraging my intercultural communication, conflict resolution, restorative practices, and cultural mediation skills. When learners become aware of their cultural heritage, it encourages them to be more accepting of others and develop a broader perspective; this can lead to a more positive future rooted in diverse traditions and mutual understanding. By bridging cultural divides and empowering learners to celebrate their identities, I aim to create an inclusive environment that celebrates the richness of our multicultural community. This approach aligns with my passion for preserving and promoting cultural heritage. I am committed to using my expertise and experience to create meaningful learning opportunities that empower multilingual students to thrive and contribute to a more just, equitable, and interconnected world.
